Sprint Medley Team Finishes Seventh at Penn Relays; Gediman Places First at Christopher Newport Radford, Va. -- Radford University’s Sprint Medley Team finished seventh overall at the Penn Relays held at Franklin Field home of Pennsylvania University. Amy Gediman (Midlothian, Va./James River), competing at the Christopher Newport Invitational, set RU’s 800 meter record, while taking home top honors in the event. The team of Brandon Huntley (Lakewood, Wash./Lakes), Jared Saunders (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg), Chris Reiser (Buena, N.J./Buena Regional) and Goran Nava (Castello Brianza, Italy) won their section, which included Michigan and Boston College, with a time of 3:23.81. Overall, the Highlanders placed ahead of schools from the SEC (1), Big East (3), Big Ten (3) and the ACC (1), which included the likes of Oklahoma, Georgetown, Ohio State and Virginia. The sprint medley consists of two 200 meter dashes, a 400 meter dash and the 800 meter run. Huntley and Saunders posted 22.4 in the 200, Reiser 49.0 in the 400 and Nava 1:48.90 in the 800. Gediman, who set the record earlier this year at the Irwin Belk Invitational, posted a 2:12.89, smashing her record by almost four seconds. |
