Stannard Named Big South Player of the Week

RADFORD, Va.--Radford's David Stannard (Richmond, Va.) was selected Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week for men’s soccer, the League office announced Tuesday.

Stannard, a freshman, led Radford to two wins last week, scoring two unassisted game-winning goals in wins against Winthrop and George Mason. Both scores came off free kicks, including a 20-yard shot to give RU a key Conference win and vaulted the Highs into first place. He also assisted on Radford’s first goal of that game, giving him a hand in three of the Highs’ four goals last week.

The Highlanders return to action Wednesday night at Appalachian State at 7:30 pm. RU is riding a four-game winning streak. The Highs are 6-3-3 overall this season and 3-2-1 in Big South games.
